Reading week 11

Today was the first day of class in just about 2 weeks we had a lot of catching up so we kinda talked about each reading quickly. The main reading I'd like to talk about is "What Makes a Great Movie." The reading was pretty interesting but I'd like to talk about my feelings on my perfect movie personally I like thrillers and revenge movies my favioret actor is Denzel Washington. Some titles I love are Inside Man, Man on Fire, Deja Vu, Count of Monte Cristo, Carlito's Way, and I'm sure a few others I can't think of off the top of my head. Movies like Count of Monte Cristo are amazing the tactics and intellegence to calculate the revenge of each man that screwed you over just makes me happy if you have any movies like that let me know. Inside Man and Deja Vu were to great thrillers I could not figure out Inside Man for the life of me I was not joking about like a week of trying to figure it all out. My all time favioret Man on Fire great acting great plot great revenge he was not going to die until he got that girl back and then finally gave himself up for her it was an emotional roller coaster. I dont know why I just went on for 10 sentences about my favioret movies but i could watch them over and over and it's worth noting. Another reading we had was "I, Robot" now that was a horrible movie I don't understand why we read it but the author talks about there is to much information to take in however I don't really agree with that statement it's pretty simple maybe if your studying it up and down but for the average person who watches movies it's not like if I get up to get a pop in the middle of it im lost the rest of the movie like Matrix and other movies tend to be. The movie was horrible to me. The final thing I have to say about his comments is I agree with him saying the movies can be almost mind altering any movie that makes you think for a while to me is a great movie however I dont think I, Robot does that.

Mythbusters

This week on Mythbusters they did something a little different. Fans emailed them complaining that some myths they tested earlier in the season were flawed and explained what they could have done to retry and re bust or confirm the myths. First myth they retested was the Sniper myth in which a Vietnamese and an American sniper were trying to take one another out. Supposedly the American shot the Vietnamese through the scope and straight into his eye killing him. When previously tested the myth was presumed busted however complaints that they were using the wrong type of scope that the Vietnamese had and wrong type of firearm the American had. The Mythbusters retry the myth and come to a almost similar conclusion the only bullet that penetrated all the glass and went into the dummies skull was an armor piercing bullet which generally snipers didn't have however they still decided to call it plausible instead of busted. Next myth was if two hammers collided would they explode originally they called it busted fans argued that they can't use new hammers because the myth was from back in the day. One fan a blacksmith sent them old tempered pre-WWII hammers and they used a rig to continuously slam them into one another. The most that happened was a few chips came off of one hammer. It didnt explode like the myth is said however the fragments could be deadly it was busted though. Mythbusters is an amazing show it shows the physics of everyday life and I just love how crazy some myths can be. It's as if the simplest myth they can make fun. It's important to everyday life some of these myths are cost saving when it comes to fuel economy and some are about saftey issues. They are wide ranging yet all intresting.

Vacation

It's about the middle of my vacation and nothing exciting has happened yet. So far I have been hanging out with a few friends at my house usually playing mario kart. Jack has been playing amazing mario kart latley and continues to win however that will not last long. Otherwise I went bowling last night and had a good time then upon leaving my friends car wouldn't start it was pretty funny. I guess the battery was dead so I jumped it and we were good to go. At the bowling alley I ran into an old friend. I haven't seen him since almost a year now it was good to see him and when golf season starts we should be seeing alot more of one another. He didn't like the college he was going to so he came back to OCC for a little while. I recently found out another friend of mine that moved to arizona is coming back for a few days to visit and go to a wedding. I can't wait to see him we've known eachother since the third grade it's gonna be great to see him. It's good to be out of school for a little while it gives me some time to think about what I wanna do for next semester. I think I'm gonna go to OCC and get some credits from there and transfer them to Wayne State. Two major reasons I want to do that is because with all the construction I don't feel like going to the main campus and secondly it's alot more inexpensive to get these b/s credits outta the way over there than at Wayne. So that pretty much my week not to exciting but not very boring so my breaks been good so far.
